On the quiet coastline of Haitang Bay, Poly Rosewood Sanya brings together sea views, refined hospitality and a calm sense of escape. Light tones, warm timber textures and natural surface details shape an atmosphere of understated luxury, where every space feels composed, tactile and connected to its setting.
Across guest rooms, restaurants, spa showers and facade areas, cardamia flexible stone was selected to express the beauty of wood, rattan, fabric and brick - without the limitations of traditional natural materials in a coastal environment.
Set along Haitang Bay, the hotel offers panoramic views across one of Sanya’s most tranquil coastlines. Its interiors are light, warm and quietly refined, using natural textures to create a relaxed resort language with a distinctly modern edge.
Wall finishes feature cardamia Custom Poly Wood, while selected ceilings use cardamia W Rattan Weave and white split-brick textures. Together, they create a soft architectural rhythm that feels natural, elegant and suited to the island setting.
Wood and rattan bring warmth to interior design, but in humid, high-salt coastal environments they can be difficult to maintain. Moisture, UV exposure, decay and formaldehyde concerns often limit their use in luxury hospitality projects.
To resolve these challenges, the design team used cardamia flexible stone across large areas of wood-grain and woven-texture walls and ceilings, including pool suites, bathrooms and spa shower spaces. Since the hotel opened in 2017, the installed surfaces have retained approximately 95% of their original condition.

Water and salt-mist resistance | With a water absorption rate of only 8-10%, cardamia helps keep surfaces dry and stable in humid, high-salinity environments. |
Lightweight, breathable structure | Its porous structure supports breathability while reducing material weight, making it well suited to large-scale hospitality interiors. |
Odour reduction and healthy interiors | Formaldehyde-free and designed to help reduce renovation odours, cardamia supports faster project delivery and a more comfortable guest experience. |
Ageing resistance | Tested for up to 3,500 hours of accelerated ageing, cardamia is designed to withstand long-term UV exposure without cracking or degradation. |
Natural texture, greater freedom | From timber and rattan to fabric and brick effects, cardamia preserves the beauty of natural materials while giving designers greater flexibility and durability. |
For Poly Rosewood Sanya, cardamia offered a refined alternative to conventional wood, rattan and stone finishes. It delivered the visual warmth required by the design concept, while meeting the practical demands of a coastal resort: moisture resistance, salt-mist durability, UV stability, lightweight installation and long-term surface beauty.
The result is a space where natural inspiration is not only expressed, but sustained - giving the hotel a surface language that feels calm, enduring and true to its coastal character.
